When it comes to marriage we tend to simply replicate all we know or have been taught. In many cases couples can repair and transform their marriage by learning new skills and research-based information about strengthening and protecting a lifelong, strong marriage.
The Knoxville Marriage Initiative aims to help married couples discover new ways to repair, strengthen and transform their marriage through relationship education workshops and marriage mentoring. In marriage workshops, couples will review (1) the benefits of marriage, (2) normal stages and challenges all couples face in marriage, (3) skills and behaviors that build strong bonds and keep love alive, and (4) how to avoid the dangers of falling out of love and hope.
Workshop topics include:
- Commitment and Teamwork
- Communication & Conflict Resolution
- Managing Problems and Expectations
- Forgiveness & (Re)Building Trust
- Growing Friendship and Intimacy
- Sensuality & Sexuality
If desired, couples can elect to receive (1) a comprehensive assessment of their relationship’s strengths and growth areas, and (2) marriage mentoring aimed at supporting couples as they focus on repairing and renewing their marriage.
